Maple Arrow Accounting

& Startup Services

Welcome - you’re in the right place!

Hi there, and welcome!
If numbers, bookkeeping, or “accountant talk” have ever made your eyes glaze over—you’re not alone. Around here, we believe financials should make sense, feel approachable, and even be a little fun (yes, really!).

I’m a small-town bookkeeper based right here in Delton, Michigan, working with small businesses, startups, nonprofits, and individuals who want clarity—not confusion—when it comes to their money. My approach is simple: plain English, real conversations, and support that actually fits you.

Whether you want someone to take bookkeeping completely off your plate, or you just want help understanding QuickBooks so you can confidently do it yourself, you’re welcome here. Hiring an accountant or bookkeeper isn’t for everyone—or every budget—and that’s okay. I offer one-on-one trainings, workshops, and hands-on guidance so you can get the most out of your time and your data, no matter what level of support you need.

My office door is always open—literally and figuratively. You’ll always find a friendly face here (and very likely Hunter, my chocolate lab, who takes his greeting duties seriously 🐾). Beyond accounting, I also offer startup services, document shredding, notary services, and practical workshops designed to help you feel more confident and in control.

Have questions? Unsure where to start? Curious if we’re a good fit?
Please reach out. That’s why I’m here—to help, in whatever way that looks like for you.

Take a look around, get comfortable, and when you’re ready—I’d love to meet you.

How I Can Help

  • Good bookkeeping isn’t just about keeping records—it’s about knowing where your business stands and feeling confident in your decisions.

I provide detailed, accurate bookkeeping that keeps your finances organized, up to date, and easy to understand. Whether you want ongoing support or a lighter touch, services are customized to fit how you run your business—not the other way around.

    What’s Included

    Transaction Tracking & Reconciliation
Your income, expenses, and bank accounts are consistently tracked and reconciled so your numbers are accurate and dependable.

    Monthly Financial Reports (Made Understandable)
You’ll receive clear monthly reports—like profit & loss and balance sheets—that show how your business is really performing, without confusing jargon.

    Expense Organization
Expenses are properly categorized to help with budgeting, cash flow visibility, and potential tax deductions.

    Accounting Software Support
I work primarily in QuickBooks but can support other platforms like Xero, depending on what fits your business best.

    Flexible Service Levels
Choose monthly, quarterly or yearly bookkeeping based on your volume, pace, and goals.

    Why It Helps

    • Less stress and fewer “Am I doing this right?” moments

    • A clear picture of your financial health—all year long

    • More time to focus on running your business (or enjoying life outside of it)

    • Confidence that your books are clean, organized, and CPA-ready

    • Accounts Receivable (A/R) Management:

      Getting paid on time matters.

I can manage invoicing, track incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances so nothing slips through the cracks. The goal is to improve cash flow, reduce past-due accounts, and keep billing organized—while still maintaining positive client relationships.

      Helpful for businesses that:

      • Are tired of chasing payments

      • Want more consistent cash flow

      • Need a cleaner, more reliable invoicing process

    • Accounts Payable (A/P) Management:

Keeping up with bills, vendors, and due dates can quickly become overwhelming. AP support ensures invoices are reviewed, organized, and paid on time—helping you avoid late fees, maintain good vendor relationships, and better manage cash flow.

Everything stays documented and up to date, so you always know what’s been paid and what’s coming up.

      Great for businesses that want:

      • Organized vendor invoices

      • Timely, accurate bill payments

      • Better control over outgoing cash

    • Payroll Management Services:

Payroll comes with zero room for error—and a lot of responsibility. I handle payroll processing from start to finish, including calculations, withholdings, direct deposits, and required filings, so employees are paid accurately and on time.

This service reduces risk, saves time, and removes the stress of keeping up with ever-changing payroll requirements.

      Helpful for businesses that:

      • Want payroll handled correctly and consistently

      • Are growing or adding employees

      • Don’t want to worry about payroll rules and deadlines

    • This service is designed for business owners who want a bigger-picture financial check-in, not a long-term CFO commitment.

Think of it as stepping back from the day-to-day and looking at your business from a higher level—where you’ve been, where you’re going, and what your numbers are really telling you.

These sessions are typically done annually or as needed, and can be repeated whenever it makes sense for your business.

      What This Includes

      High-Level Financial Review
A deep but understandable review of your financials, trends, and patterns—focusing on what matters most to you as the owner.

      Goal Setting & Budget Planning
We’ll talk through upcoming goals and build a realistic budget to support them, whether that’s growth, stability, or simplifying operations.

      Cash Flow & Forecasting Conversations
Review cash flow, upcoming expenses, and forecasts so there are fewer surprises and more confidence in planning ahead.

      Trends, Insights & Opportunities
Identify strengths, potential risks, and opportunities using real data—not guesses—then talk through what the next best steps could be.

      Plain-English Explanation
No CFO jargon. You’ll leave understanding why the numbers look the way they do and what options you have moving forward.

      Who This Is For

      • Business owners who want clarity before making big decisions

      • Those planning for the year ahead (or resetting after a busy season)

      • Owners who like being hands-on but want expert insight

      • Businesses not ready—or not interested—in a monthly CFO retainer

      Why It’s Valuable

      • Get out of reaction mode and into planning mode

      • Make decisions with confidence, backed by real numbers

      • Spot trends early instead of after they become problems

      • Gain clarity without the overhead of a full-time CFO

  • Starting a new business can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially when it comes to navigating the necessary paperwork and legal requirements. • Paperwork has a way of piling up—and knowing what to keep, what to shred, and when isn’t always clear. Keeping documents too long can create clutter and risk, while disposing of them improperly can put sensitive information at risk.

I offer secure, confidential document shredding as a local service to help individuals and small businesses safely dispose of paperwork they no longer need—without guessing or stressing.

    What This Service Covers

    • Confidential & Secure Disposal
Sensitive documents are shredded properly to protect personal, financial, and business information.

    • Guidance on What to Keep vs. Shred
Not sure how long you should keep tax documents, payroll records, or business paperwork? I can help you understand general retention timelines so you shred with confidence.

    • Ideal for Individuals & Small Businesses
Perfect for old tax returns, outdated financial records, payroll documents, and other paperwork that no longer needs to be stored.

    • Local, Convenient Drop-Off
Shredding is done through a secure shred bin at the office—no shipping boxes or big trips required.

    Why It Matters

    • Protects against identity theft and data exposure

    • Reduces paper clutter and storage overload

    • Gives peace of mind knowing documents are handled properly

    Looking Ahead: Community Shred Days

From time to time, I’ll also host community bulk shred days—a simple way for neighbors and local businesses to clean out files safely and affordably. Dates and details will be shared as they’re scheduled.

  • Sometimes you just need something notarized—without the hassle or long wait times.

I offer local notary services in a convenient, welcoming setting, making the process simple and straightforward. Whether it’s a personal document or a business form, you can expect clear guidance, proper handling, and attention to detail every step of the way.

    What to Expect

    Reliable & Accurate Notarization
Documents are reviewed and notarized correctly to ensure they meet requirements and are properly executed.

    Convenient Local Option
No need to travel far or schedule around big offices—this is an easy stop for individuals and small business owners alike.

    Friendly, Professional Experience
Notary services don’t have to feel formal or intimidating. Questions are welcome, and the process is explained along the way.

    By Appointment or Walk-In Availability
Perfect for quick needs, planned appointments, or bundled services during office visits.

What to Bring -To keep your notary visit quick and smooth, please bring:

    • A valid, government-issued photo ID
(Driver’s license, state ID, or passport)

    • The document needing notarization
Please do not sign the document ahead of time—signatures must be completed in front of the notary.

    • All required signers
Everyone who needs to sign the document must be present and have valid ID.

    • Any supporting pages
Some documents require attachments or full packets to be notarized properly.

If you’re unsure whether your document is ready, feel free to ask before your visit—I’m happy to help you double-check.

    Important Michigan Notary Information

To ensure everything is handled correctly and in compliance with Michigan notary laws, please note:

    • A notary cannot explain or give legal advice about the contents of a document

    • A notary cannot tell you what type of notarization you need—that must be determined before your appointment

    • Documents must be signed willingly and with full understanding by all parties

    • Incomplete documents cannot be notarized

    • Notarization verifies identity and signature, not the legality or accuracy of the document itself

The goal is to make sure your documents are properly executed and accepted—while keeping the process simple, professional, and stress-free.

  • Every business in Michigan is required to have a registered agent—but that doesn’t mean it has to be complicated.

I offer Registered Agent services for businesses that want a reliable, local point of contact for important legal and state documents. This ensures nothing slips through the cracks and gives you peace of mind knowing official notices are handled properly and promptly.

    What This Service Includes

    Official Document Receipt
I receive state and legal correspondence on behalf of your business, including documents from the State of Michigan and other official notices.

    Timely Notifications
You’ll be notified promptly when documents are received, so you can take action when needed.

    Privacy & Professionalism
Using a registered agent helps keep your personal or business address off public records.

    Local, Reliable Presence
A consistent Michigan-based contact during normal business hours, as required by the state.

    Who This Is Helpful For

    • New business owners forming an LLC or corporation

    • Business owners who work remotely or travel frequently

    • Anyone who wants to keep personal addresses private

    • Businesses that want to stay organized and compliant

    Why It Matters

    • Helps ensure you don’t miss important deadlines or notices

    • Keeps your business in good standing with the State of Michigan

    • Reduces administrative stress and distractions

  • Understanding your finances shouldn’t feel intimidating—or boring. That’s why I offer hands-on workshops and learning sessions designed to help small business owners and individuals better understand their numbers, systems, and tools in a way that actually makes sense.

Workshops range from practical financial basics to software training and business organization topics, all taught in plain English and built around real-life situations. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to strengthen what you already have in place, these sessions are meant to be approachable, interactive, and useful.

    How to Find & Register

    • View upcoming workshops here: [Workshop Page Link]

    • Follow along on Facebook for announcements and reminders

    • Find specific workshops on Eventbrite

    • I will also post flyers on the bulletin board in the office

Have an Idea? Let Me Know!

If there’s something you’d like to learn more about, I want to hear it. Chances are, someone else is wondering the same thing—and that’s often how new workshops are created. My goal is simple: to be helpful and make learning about finances feel doable and empowering.

My Story

Hi, I’m Amber—and I promise I don’t speak in “accountant” unless absolutely necessary.

For the past 18 years, I’ve worked across multiple industries in the accounting world, building a practical, well-rounded skill set that ultimately led me to open Maple Arrow Accounting. From mortgage servicing and construction to restaurants, hotels, and spas, I’ve seen how different businesses operate behind the scenes—and where things most often get confusing, stressful, or overlooked.

What sets me apart isn’t just experience—it’s how I translate it.

I believe good bookkeeping isn’t about impressing you with jargon or complicated reports. It’s about helping you understand what your numbers are actually telling you, so you can make confident decisions for your business. That belief is what led me to create hands-on workshops, one-on-one trainings, and approachable systems that meet you where you are—whether you want full support or just want to learn how to do things better yourself.

I’m proudly based in Delton, Michigan, and my office reflects the kind of work I do: welcoming, practical, and judgment-free. There’s usually a friendly face waiting to greet you—often my chocolate lab, Hunter—and the coffee is always on. Around here, questions are encouraged, learning is collaborative, and numbers don’t have to be intimidating.

Outside of work, you’ll most likely find me spending time with my 14-year-old son, my 18-year-old Shih-Tzu (semi-retired, but still in charge), and my 8-year-old chocolate lab. I love being outdoors— hiking trails, kayaking or farm animals—and I’m always up for a DIY project, trying a new restaurant, or watching a good Hallmark movie.

Horses have a special place in my life, so serving on the board of a therapeutic horseback riding nonprofit and volunteering there whenever I can feels like a natural extension of who I am—both personally and professionally.

If you’re looking for someone who knows their stuff and knows how to explain it in a way that actually sticks—you’re in the right place..

  • "I struggled to find a good bookkeeper to support my consulting company - someone who understood the challenges of being a small business owner with a limited budget. Amber and Maple Arrow Accounting totally understood what I needed: Amber is organized, efficient, and always on top of things. I appreciate that I never have to remind her of what's needed - instead she's the one making sure that we're on track throughout the year. It really gives me peace of mind!"
